SILK PAINTING AND ME
I first took an interest in silk as a painting medium when I was staying in Japan. Japanese silks, the colours they use and their dyeing techniques are exceptional. Although I developed my own methods and style rather than the traditional, it is a technique that I perfected to the point of becoming a teacher of silk painting while I was there. I use hot wax, dyes and sumi (a Japanese ink) on pure silk to create colourful, breezy and fun images of places and things that inspire me.
